FAIRYTALE BLISS

In a place so deserted,
In a dark night like this
I came where it all began
looking for some fairytale bliss.

The wobbly walls
and the creaking door
led to something known,
a feeling old but felt before.

From that retro dialer,
Grandpa's rocking chair
To those needles of granny
All made it so clear.

The bed reverberating those lullabys,
that gentle touch of mother
Ohh those stains still there,
those innocent excuses of brother

Peaked from the cupboard rusted
the echoes of the past
The moments painfully beautiful
Which now no longer last.

Those shillings, those dolls, those scarfs
and that wind-chime sound
Just like a pot of gold
All lost now found.

Sometimes most cherished memories
truly inflict the most pain
Ohh this wish to relive
to start all over again

Then I set my gaze upon
that broken glass
Reflecting what this site destroyed
taking away everything that was once ours.

Knowing how peaceful the present is
regretted that I came,
There is nothing which I can call mine
Nothing here on which I can claim

Left the place with relief
Not anything here I could miss
For I realize the future holds
That fairytale bliss.
